ACTUALLY I JUST REMEMBERED. They cut out the scene where Miles refused to tsaheylu with Varang and ran off. It was supposed to bring more nuance to their relationship and how unhealthy it is because in spite of being a couple, Q can’t actually bring himself to genuinely trust Vara with his his mind.

Most definitely. There is zero breathing room between scenes, a lot had to have been cut. That scene in the swamp? It *felt* like it was meant to be a lot longer.

Agreed. I was expecting more nuance and vulnerability. I was expecting more Neytiri parallels, and hell, maybe even a dynamic with Spider, bc of how much potential it has (Spider, blessed by Eywa, Varang, abandoend by Eywa) but we got none of that :( maybe those scenes were cut out for runtime.

Music box lullaby-is sound is associated strongly with little children, so not only does it reinforce the parent-kid dynamic, but, from Q’s pov, shows that sees Spider as a literal baby. A little boy, naive and young and precious, since that word is also associated strongly with music box motifs.

I interpreted this being a more so Quaritch POV song, with the layered ticking meant to symbolise his rapid heartbeat (man is about to lay open his feelings to his son. He’s a nervous wreck about it), meanwhile the music box motif reflects how he sees Spider.
