Isn't this clearly known? There has been a steady move from direct taxation to indirect taxation over the last few decades, like lower income tax but VAT on more goods and at increasing rates. What counts isn't taxation on income but overall rates of taxation experienced by individuals.

It's so easy to avoid that most estates mitigate it, and £2m estates actually pay a lower effective IHT rate than £10m estates. Several countries have moved from a death tax to taxing asset transfers, whether during life or after death. This has a couple of advantages.

I've seen Christmas chips mentioned on Instagram before but couldn't remember any of the places that do them, so your thoughts on "famous" are well founded.
