We woke the apes up in 1970. They work beside us now, live beside us. By 1999, ape or human, there's no difference left: exploited, drained, disconnected, clinging to the last remnants of what made us human.
This is APEPUNK.

Painted comic panel in deep blue: an ape (DEE) curled inside a milky cocoon of tubes, suspended and dripping. Captions read "It's a miracle. Don't you think?" and "What are you talking about?" Sound effect: HUMMMMM. A young ape with a shaved head and a wary stare walks through a gray crowd on a brutalist city street, riot police and an armored vehicle behind her. Broadcast captions: "We know the world is harsh. It always has been. That is why we do not believe in gentle systems. We believe in systems that work. A woman tied by her wrists to a pole, head bowed, a cardboard sign reading "APE LOVER" hanging from her neck, beneath a tower marked ASTOR. A woman (FRAN) with a red bob and amber sunglasses stands expressionless in front of three tall, bald bodyguards in dark suits and sunglasses.
