My ex had a Dad like that, she broke my heart and it still upsets me sometimes but all I've gotta do is drive past his house and see the gigantic flag flying from the window and I instantly feel better about the whole situation

I could go out on an all weekender, drink/swallow/snort/smoke as much as humanly possible and still wouldn't spend as much as I would in 5 mins in the casino when I was addicted. And it used to wreck my mental health worse than any hangover/comedown ever did

As a troubled youth with an addictive personality, I had a lot of issues with drink and drugs but nothing came close to the damage that gambling caused, it's worse than any drug I ever took. Cannabis being illegal and gambling being advertised every time you turn on the tv is utterly insane imo

Well it's hard to put an exact figure on it as they've only recently started recording it properly but best estimate is around 10k gambling suicides since 2005

Personally think his deregulation of the gambling industry, which has killed thousands and ruined the lives of many more, was probably a bit more damaging than having to keep your pub open a bit later

The over 70's should be banned from social media long before the under 16's, it's scary how easily they're duped online

I had a battle with my GP for years, kept being told I was basically a hypochondriac and there was nothing wrong with me. Went to a chiropractor in the end, he sent me straight to hospital, diagnosed with MS 🤷♂️

Funnily enough, years ago, I was a gambling addict and often considered telling people I'd blown all my money on escorts as I thought it would be less embarrassing 🤷♂️

The only time Jim sees the UK, apart from boardrooms and fancy hotels, is when he's flying over it in his private jet, he knows nothing about life in this country and also doesn't care, he just wants less tax & regulation so is jumping on Nigels racist bandwagon alongside the worst of humanity

I'm a recovering addict, not gambled in 5 years but still get "not on gamstop" texts every day. Although my life was completely destroyed by regulated bookmakers, they don't behave much better they just pay the odd fine (none of which goes to the lives they destroy) so hard to sympathise with them

Kevin seems to forget that the Netherlands didn't just increase taxes, they banned advertising and introduced affordability checks at the same time because it's a country that actually puts people before profit (see Groningen gas fields for example, something that would never happen in the UK)

Spent years keeping my parents away from facebook, fortunately they're scared of technology so it's quite easy but they've recently discovered GB "News" and think it's an actual news channel and are already spouting nonsense they've seen on there, need to find a way to remove channels from their TV
