A Live Professional Wrestling Show As my wrestling year begins to wind down, I find myself looking back on 2025 as a whole, and it was a damn good year for Kansas City professional wrestling. By the end of the year, I'll have attended 30 shows, and along the way I saw some truly incredible wrestling. Most promotions were firing on all cylinders throughout the year, and the overall quality of the shows was outstanding. Trailblazer Championship Wrestling, for example crowned two new champions in 2025, Aminah Belmont as the inaugural women's champion, and Luke Anthony as the second Heavyweight Champion.

A live professional wrestling show I always enjoy making the trip to Sedalia for wrestling shows for a number of reasons. I lived nearby in Warrensburg for many years, and these days I miss out on a lot of the Central Missouri promotions, so getting to see New Breed Wrestling a couple of times each year is something I look forward to. I also like the Liberty Park Convention Hall quite a bit, and New Breed consistently draws a strong crowd. When it came time to wrap up my wrestling year (a packed schedule of 30 shows - wow!) I couldn't have picked a better event to nearly close things out.

A Live Professional Wrestling Show I don't often travel what I would consider long distances for wrestling shows, but I try to make an effort to attend events in Moberly, Missouri whenever Show-Me State Wrestling comes to town. It's the second-closest location the company runs to my area (aside from Marshall, MO or possibly Columbia, MO), as they are normally based near Jefferson City. Like last year's NBW/SSW Supershow, this event was held at the Moberly Area Community College (MACC) Activity Center. Part of the facility, the Fitzsimmons-John Arena, is a college basketball venue with more than 1,000 fixed seats.

A Live Professional Wrestling Event It’s a spooky night that only comes once a year, as ghouls and specters descend on Gardner, Kansas to have one last hurrah before Halloween. Tonight is not just another show. Tonight, the doors have been thrown open to something else entirely. Welcome to Monster’s Brawl 4 from Trailblazer Championship Wrestling. Sometimes, costumes are not always costumes, grudges take on a life of their own, and every match feels just a little more spooky, perhaps even dangerous, than it should.

A Live Professional Wrestling Show There was a lot of uncertainty surrounding Northern Missouri’s Tri States Wrestling going into 2026. First and foremost, John Rockhold, the founder and owner of the company since 2022, stepped away in January of 2026. As expected, that immediately fueled the rumor mill, with people looking for any kind of “dirt.” It even reached my page, with John himself having to step in and clarify that he was simply too busy and needed a break from running the promotion.

A live professional wrestling event Welp, it looks like there’s always a new war to worry about and prices keep flying through the roof. If you can even afford to go see live entertainment at all, much less professional wrestling, good luck getting tickets on a budget, because WWE shows have become astronomically expensive. Thankfully, the local independent scene still has your back, and that is especially true with Kansas City Xtreme Wrestling, which for over a year now has been running small Sunday afternoon shows at its training facility in Raytown, Missouri for just ten bucks a head.

History tells a different story. World Championship Wrestling lasted just three years. Lucha Underground ran for roughly four. Extreme Championship Wrestling survived seven. None of them were around long, yet all permanently altered the national wrestling landscape.

Since then, the series has existed in almost constant production for nearly six decades, spanning multiple manga runs, six main television series, dozens of TV specials, theatrical films, OVAs, stage adaptations, and video games.

A Manga by Satoru Noda Picking up where I left off in my previous review of Dogsred, volume two throws us back onto the ice with Rou Shirakawa in the aftermath of his first and only game with Miyamori Junior High. The school is dissolved after its final year due to low enrollment, effectively ending his brief introduction to organized hockey.

A book by Rose Miron Indigenous Archival Activism by Rose Miron chronicles the efforts of the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Nation Historical Committee to develop a centralized Mohican tribal archive aimed at reclaiming, reconstructing, and preserving Indigenous identity and culture. Dr. Rose Miron comes to this project as the previous Director of the D’arcy McNickle Center for American Indian and Indigenous Studies at the Newberry Library; she is now Vice President of Research and Education at Northwestern University.

A Manga by Satoru Noda You really do not see many manga centered on ice hockey, which is kind of surprising. Maybe the sport just is not that popular in Japan, but considering there are successful series about volleyball, badminton, horse racing, and even American football (which I know is not popular in Japan), it is wild that hockey has not received much attention.

An Anime Film directed by Mamoru Hosoda I was actually unaware that this film had been damn near crucified by Japanese audiences, and as a result, I think some of that reaction trickled into the American advanced previews the film received a few months ago. In my opinion, people have seemed poised to hate this film long before it released for some reason I honestly don't understand.

An audio drama set to still images by Big Finish and broadcast on BBCi 2002 was an interesting time for Doctor Who fandom. There were persistent murmurs that the BBC planned to bring the show back after being cancelled some fifteen years prior, but with the 40th anniversary approaching and no proper television revival in sight, the franchise was being kept alive in other ways.

An Anime TV series It has been nearly a year since I watched Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX: Beginning in theaters, and I absolutely loved the experience. The film functions as an alternate retelling of the original Mobile Suit Gundam timeline, built around one seismic change that alters the entire course of the One Year War: what if Char Aznable entered the Gundam instead of Amuro Ray?
