The area is crowded with villi, and a network of pipes and small buildings clings to the walls, extending a short distance from the pyloric gate. Further down the intestinal tract, smaller ships break away from the group, descending through the villi and into the capillaries to enter Morgan’s bloodstream. The main fleet presses on toward the cecum. Unlike the previous mechanical airlocks, the door to the cecum remains a part of Morgan’s actual anatomy—a living sphincter. It is truly a spectacular and enchanting sight. Upon reaching the cecum, the inspection team divides in two: one group flies toward the appendix, while the other continues into the large intestine.
