Oh, I can understand that. Had such talks also, luckily only online, not in my family. But I was really surprised at how stubbornly people want to interpret something into LLM, that they are not.

Most important point is, the answers don't have to be correct!
I also use LLM often, but with just this understanding how they work and what I've to give attention to. Hell, I even customized chatGPT so, that it should know, I prefer facts before "things I'd like probably to hear". ;-)

Maybe it helps if you tell her, how LLM's work. Those are probability apps that can't do anything aside from find the next probable token and tries so to tell you the most probable answer, not even "right answer" but the answer that's most probable expected to to the prompt. No intelligence at all.
