The popularization of the idea of side quests reminds me of decades of gaming, ignoring the main storyline to race chocobos, join every guild, explore the corners of every map. It makes me optimistic that we are realizing the journey is the destination—it feels like a more mindful existence.

Before (2022) / After (2026) Boulevard Péreire in the 17th arrondissement of Paris. Near the Porte Maillot zone - that has also completely changed as a whole - the median strip of this boulevard was changed from a parking to a pedestrian zone, that opened in 2026.

Dog culture here is very off leash. I still don’t tend to let Wyatt off very much, because his recall is meh, but he’s been exploring with so much joy. 🥹

Wear sunscreen on your face and neck even on cloudy days. Don’t worry if you don’t have it all figured out. I didn’t even find out my ideal career existed until I was 29. Don’t measure yourself against others. Get enough sleep. Drink water. Spend time with your parents, they won’t be around forever.
Those who are 35+, what advice do you have for people just entering their 30s?

Friends and colleagues lost their jobs yesterday. Some of the smartest, most thoughtful, and dedicated public servants that I know. We are worse for this. I know it’s been happening nonstop, that this is just one thing of many. But seeing people’s careers, callings, livelihoods vanish. Gutting.

A local video store owner informed me that kids in their 20s are buying up all his VHS horror movies because they think it's "scarier due to the graininess of the video" and that was the most heart-warming thing I've heard in a long time.

I’m tired. Tired of senators voting to bring millions of people into poverty. Of my government shuttering USAID, a decision that will kill millions, has already killed starving children. Of the cruelty to federal employees. Of the concentration camps and violent rhetoric to immigrants most of all.
