Electric mood for a Friday night session.
A black-and-white close-up shows several synthesizer and a mixing consoles covered with knobs, sliders, buttons, and cables. The equipment fills the frame, with some controls sharply focused and others fading into a soft blur. Strong shadows and bright reflections create a moody atmosphere.

Sadly, Kieran Foster, also known as Illformed, passed away at the young age of 47.

For me, his software Glitch was the first exciting step away from polished, almost perfect production and into the lo-fi, glitch world of broken beats, stuttering sounds and dark textures.

Kieran Foster April 2nd, 1979 – July 2nd, 2026. The first image shows a man with short, slightly messy hair, a trimmed beard, and bright blueframed sunglasses. He is wearing a white T-shirt and is standing outdoors in front of a plain light-colored wall. The second image is a screenshot of the software Glitch2. It shows a dark interface with a timeline and a grid in the center, colored blocks arranged across multiple rows, and a set of effect controls and knobs along the bottom.

Looks like I have a co-producer now.
This black-and-white photo shows a moth resting on the fader of an audio mixer. The moth sits near the center of the image with its wings fully spread. A strong beam of light illuminates it, making its wings appear bright and highlighting their delicate texture. Most of the surrounding scene remains in deep shadow. Parts of the mixer’s faders and markings are visible beneath and around the insect, but they fade into the darkness.

This account is becoming A Theory of Quiet Signals.

The previous project, Obscure Polymere, will not continue, but the content will remain largely the same: music, visual studies, notation fragments and audiovisual experiments accompanying snapshots from the ongoing development of ATQS.

So stoked to see the venerable PPG logo on a new instrument. Quite pricey though.

#synthesizer #synthsky #ppg #wolfgangpalm
The image shows a vintage-style PPG 1002 synthesizer. It's a rectangular panel filled with black knobs, switches, and silver jacks arranged in columns. The casing is black with metallic silver edges, and the logo “PPG SYNTHESIZER 1002” appears on the upper right.

"In the theater of nature, peaceful moments often reveal hints of sublime unrest."

One of my most treasured moments.

A black-and-white image shows a peaceful seascape under a dramatic sky. Thick, billowing clouds stretch across the scene, while soft light reflects off the calm water. Tall grasses sway gently in the foreground, silhouetted against the shimmering surface. Distant hills rest quietly on the horizon.

A church facade is illuminated with a vibrant video mapping projection. The artwork features bold colors like pink, blue, and yellow, with surreal imagery, including a central figure with an animal-like face, geometric shapes, and floating objects. The night sky enhances the glowing effect.

Decay is just time making itself visible.

About eight years ago, my photographic journey began with a humble Nikon D5100. This image was one of the first I took with it.

#blueskyartshow #abandoned #photography #urbanphotography #urban #blackandwhitephotography
This black-and-white photo shows a decayed urban scene under a dark, crumbling overpass. The ground is rough, with scattered debris. On the left, a stone wall runs alongside, while a rusted metal fence lines the right. A worn staircase, partly covered in weeds, leads upward to an open, brighter space. In the background, industrial structures with pipes and railings loom. The mood is eerie, abandoned, and mysterious.

Zimoun’s art transforms simple materials into dynamic soundscapes, revealing the beauty of mechanical repetition, controlled randomness, and spatial resonance. His work is making sound a tangible, evolving sculptural experience.

So, that's me (on the left) with an Yamaha product specialist. The photo captures the exact moment I’m pondering how to deliver a rhetorical masterpiece to convince my family, friends, and acquaintances to sell their organs - just so I can afford this Nuage system.

The black-and-white image shows two men sitting in front of a professional audio studio. One wears a cap and glasses, resting his chin on his hand, while the other, in glasses and a hoodie, operates a large mixing console with multiple screens displaying audio waveforms. A studio monitor speaker sits in the background.

I found this photo online of Judas Priest’s Rob Halford & Duran Duran’s Simon Le Bon. I LOVE both groups. It’s funny to think that 40 years ago, fans of each would hate the other’s band - and today their singers pose like besties. There’s a lesson there…

The image is from an old Arturia ad. It reminds me of the synthesizer section at Sound & Drumland Berlin, which sadly no longer exists. Anyway, I love the photo’s aesthetic - it triggers both my GAS and the urge to move.

This image shows a beautifully arranged collection of vintage synthesizers and drum machines in an elegant room with wooden floors and white walls. Multiple keyboards are stacked on stands, and modular synths sit in the center. The setup has a retro-futuristic aesthetic with a mix of analog and digital gear.

I'm on all sorts of lists on Bluesky. Usually, I don't care, even if it got me blocked. But what really boils my blood is being linked to MAGA or Trump. Since lists are user tools, why can they be read out via API? As this gets exploited, maybe a better approach is needed? @bsky.app

To be clear:
The Image has the following text on colored background: No matter your religion, pronouns, skin color, or whom you love - if you're a decent human being, you'll always find safety and respect with me. If that earns me the label "woke leftist PC shill," that's fine by me. And if your beliefs lead you to reject these values, I'll defend them without hesitation. If that makes me appear as an extremist in your eyes, so be it.

My contribution to the weekly #blueskyartshow theme.

In a world stripped to shades of blue, we see not distraction but essence - the land, the sky, and the quiet in between.

#monochrome #photography #naturephotography #landscapephotography #cloudscape #blue
This image shows a vast, open landscape under a dramatic, cloud-filled sky. The entire scene has a deep blue monochrome tone, giving it a moody and atmospheric feel. A single, small tree stands alone on the horizon, emphasizing solitude. Rolling hills with scattered bushes and rugged terrain add texture to the scene.

I don't really care about the Grammys, but the fact that Courtney LaPlante (Spiritbox) was rhetorical forced to be Poppy and actually went through with it is just hilarious. The meme army is already going nuts.
