Yes. But the difference is that after the bubble comes a more mature and sensible strategy of learning how to incorporate AI into our society. The current strategy is of forcing it where it should not go, out of fear of the crash. We need the crash to regain social control from the conmen/gamblers.

Where it works is sustained collective engagement in the process of admitting collective responsibility without having to challenge every individual. Germany achieved this. There are other examples. When you are personally challenged to view your own behaviours then avoidance and denial are common.

It is against Russian law to send conscripts to the SMO, which is why everyone must sign a contract. Musk is at that state of deranged reality whereby he makes things up and convinces himself it is true.

It’s time to make the consequences of these all-or-nothing power grabs serious. If we continue to act like it’s a no harm-no foul thing then it is only a matter of time before democracy is cudgelled to death as they keep trying. Make it all-or-nothing and remove their wealth and power completely.

Poundland Trumpisms… yeah, that makes me believe you know what the fuck you’re doing enough to let you run the country. How awful a human being do you have to be to act like this?

I disagree on the impeachment factor. I think that they can go after everyone underneath Trump and grind the Rep senators into a forced compromise position. A bit of give and take. Dem stops the impeachments if Rep gives them Hegseth, RFK and Blanche. Etc.

This is a pivotal moment for Serbia and for Europe. It is fraught with challenges and dangers, especially as the Russians struggle to regain their influence. But it comes at an excellent time as the battle for freedom and the democratic principle is being waged everywhere. I hope for the best.

I don’t disagree. I’m just saying that its going to be costly. It will be generations before UK could restructure itself away from it’s close ties with USA. I’m not sure UK will ever be as relevant again afterwards. (Note that is a comparator and I’m not saying UK will be totally irrelevant).

Musk has been divorced from reality and shielded himself psychologically from the consequences and ethics of his own actions for quite some time now. There comes a point where we would call that madness.

I just think that, in UK in particular, we are too closely entwined with the US economy, military and culture.

His job is very easy, tbh. The SoS establishes rules, mostly through either parliamentary process or industry agreements. The head of OfCom investigates and punishes breaches of those rules. Anything transgressing other regulators rules (e.g. monopolies/cartels) are referred on to that regulator.

I think we already do. She’s probably about 13, no longer a virgin and already starred in her first gonzo porn film.

What’s the egg replacement?

Roughly 25pc of all US trade is with Europe. Europe needs to think about what it really wants here. I’ve given up asking the US administration to do any actual thinking. There’s a chance that this is going to be an ugly, costly divorce. I’m not sure I share your optimism.

When a school board is afraid of a book… it is a superbly written book that kids can learn so much from. Clear evidence of a wilful dumbing down (yes there’s a ‘b’ in it) of education to limit the opportunities of the kids in their future.

Yep. My bad. Head’s a bit fuzzy this morning. I’m not well.

Loans totally unprofitable and high-risk? I would look at how to issue an insurance/re-insurance tax of 20% against all personal loans above $20m. This might make the loans financial suicide and the extravagant lifestyle and unrepentant power impossible for the banks and financiers to enable.

Billionaires feel that, since the source of their ‘wealth’ is a loan against assets that have not been realised, they would be subject to an unfair tax. Certainly it is a questionable situation that would not be applied to any other loan. Perhaps a better way of dealing with this is to make such…

Ugh, no edit. You get the gist.

In his hand is an outright military stand against Putin. It’s Hobbes choice at the moment. Luka’s only way out of this is to get Belarusians on his side. Not going to happen, I think, but worth testing with him as the West.

Who cares. He’s dead now. These sorts of stories just galvanise right-leaning people against those who bay for long-gone blood. Is it something that the 17yr old/men should pursue with the estate of the Graham family? Maybe. Is it headline news… really?

Yep. My uncle fought there in the 60’s and my brother was stationed in Oman for a while. I was thinking more of Iran, but that’s as bad as Yemen on the Southern side and Yemen is a reasonable additional target. I just don’t see another way of stopping this thing - China supports Iran economically.
