I adore Eagle - one of the first pieces of music to utterly captivate me, as a child, igniting a love affair with pop music. I like the fact that this is focused - albums can be too long. IMO this is one of the two most satisfying ABBA albums - the other being Super Trouper.

Yes, it’s an odd mixture of their mature - and less mature - writing style. Ignore the lyric, and Dum Dum Diddle sounds very proto-Vince Clarke. Benny did a free concert on Hampstead Heath about 15 years ago and played Why Did It Have To Be Me? That was ‘a moment’.

I do think it’s good, but I dislike the way it has overshadowed the rest of ABC’s career. I find ‘Zillionaire’ and ‘Up’ much more exciting.

I’ve been trying to listen to Duran Duran recently. I tend to quite enjoy it while it’s on, then afterwards I think, “well, what on earth was that all about?”. This one has a nice mood, and I like the fact they recorded it in a Cotswolds town (near the Rollright Stones, for ‘Stones of Blood’ fans)

Absolutely love this one. IMO one of his most enjoyable. The ‘anything goes’ mishmash of styles is exhilarating, once you get into it. However, it needs re-sequencing to ‘take you on a journey’ - the original track listing is messy and disorientating. For me, Girlfriend is a highlight.

I’m in a major McCartney mood right now and have found a lot to love in many previously-untried albums. Bounced off this, though! Felt quite irritated by it. It’s no Back to the Egg / Tug of War / RAM / McCartney II (etc etc)

I like Seaside Woman, C Moon, Lonely Pigeon. It’s a bit messy but lots of good material. I felt at liberty to make my own track listing - given they couldn’t make their minds up about what should be on it, why not? My Love fits better if you nest it in other tracks with adventurous instrumentation

Ah! Betrayed, IMO one of the most successful tracks. Evocative lyric, unusual arrangement, kind of hypnotic. It’s about Thatcherism. An abundance of good songs but the production lets it down. Change the running order, add Mirror Man, Fascination, the better versions of ILYTM and The Sign. Bingo!

Elysium is great, in the vein of Behaviour, but gets slagged off because of two ghastly songs. Have fun guessing which two! Electric is jaw-droppingly good. Super is ‘more of the same’ i.e. very good but less surprising. Hotspot is patchy. Nonetheless is back to top-notch. Wot a great late career!
