This feels like the safest place to stow this and I don’t feel like bombarding my friends, so here’s a thread to be updated:
I’ve started reading Dungeon Crawler Carl to see what all the ruckus is about, and holy shit. This is so sad

Pop culture looks different in some pretty substantive and drastic ways if Kanye West never interrupts Taylor Swift at the 2009 VMAs, I’m so serious
What’s your modern historical hinge point? Nothing political. Just your major cultural What If? For example, I’m a 1994 Expos truther

Me, for the last week: you know, I get it, but a truly gobsmacking percentage of trans art has sadness and pain as loci

Keeping all my ready-to-read poems in one Google doc was a smart idea until I started tweaking them for submissions/the fuck of it, and now I have to track down what goes where for their most recent versions

It is very funny to be Mad about this article. SG clearly gave Arcade Fire the “fuck this band” special: an early, deliberate mention and linking of the allegations, a bored and factual news brief, and then throwing the band to the commentariat to flambé them

This gets at something I've been thinking about, esp. w/r/t some Christian Boomers I know. They'll tell me to my face that doing me the courtesy of referring to me as I've asked them to is an infringement on their core beliefs & natural law, then be confused I'm not thrilled to break bread with them
A thing that I find incredibly interesting is the world is full of people who genuinely believe they have a *right* to be liked and for people to be obsequious towards them. I have seen it from a wide range of people, and it never ceases to amaze me. No one *has* to be your friend!
No. Christians feel persecuted because there is a vast media apparatus telling them that they are persecuted. There is no evidence whatsoever of large-scale discrimination against Christians in this country.

Interesting story that gets to the heart of why many Christians feel persecuted in the U.S.: The secular elite find many of their views abhorrent and uncouth
