The whole point of fiction is to make shit up. If the machine is doing the make believe, you’re effectively an editor, and that’s already a thing you can be.

Make it up or go find something to edit, but release your reliance on the earth-destroying water guzzler.

This is why cities need trees.

Hard surfaces and parked cars can reach extreme temperatures, while shaded grass and tree-covered areas stay dramatically cooler.

This is the urban heat island effect in one image: hard surfaces absorb and radiate heat, while vegetation and shade reduce it.

NASA just dropped more than 12,000 photos from the Artemis II mission.

It'll take me a few days to go through them all, but so far it's one stunner after another.

This is a great idea. I’d love to be able to allocate my taxes to specific government agencies. I wonder how different the budget would look…
Good morning. It is tax day. All payments may only be made to NASA.

Nice to know that even when you’re at the peak of human exploration, Microsoft will be there to malfunction.

Like music, the glitchiness is a feature that triggers memories of Earth and soothes them. 😊
Astronauts are trained for decades in some of the most physically and mentally grueling environments of any career. They’re some of the smartest people on the planet. And yet, once they get up there, Microsoft Outlook is borked. @samleecole.bsky.social reports.

The last line has me thinking of sci-fi pioneer and oracle Octavia Butler.
If aliens abducted you and they were kinda cool and chill with good food, would you still come back to Earth if they gave you the opportunity?

(Yes, the aliens are fuckable to your standards)

Hi! Are you doomscrolling? Political analysis and news updates can be hard to look away from, but you still deserve time to rest and recover. If possible, charge your phone away from your bed. Max loves you.

This is my face all the time now.
Porchsia is not amused by the neighbor's barking dog.

(Her name is spelled that way cause she was porch-cat before she became ours and a house-cat. )

Too many women are living vicariously. They’ve been taught that having their own dreams is unimportant and that suppressing them in service of their family (spouse and children) is a noble price to pay.

Imagine what life would be like if we released this idea.

I deactivated my IG months ago and haven’t looked back. I miss sending memes and chatting with some people, but my life has gotten way better without it.

Not sure I’m going back. 🤔

Reminding myself it's no use gaming scenarios thinking about what's to come. It'll be here soon enough. And - just as I said in Dec 2024 - we'll look back on THIS moment as the good times and be upset we didn't spend it more joyfully and productively. So I'm going to ensure I don't have that regret

Never heard of this, but just finished reading it. Eerie indeed.
76 years ago, Ray Bradbury wrote There Will Come Soft Rains—a story about a fully automated house continuing its routines after nuclear war wipes out humanity.

The date in the story?

August 4, 2026.

“Soft Rains Day” is only about 5 months away. Let’s survive it.

I will never get used to the disdain our country holds for brown and Black children.

From Palestine to Iran to Sudan, we normalize the destruction of schools and hospitals and daycares. We reduce children to death tolls and their futures to rubble with no consequence or second thought.

The second and third richest men control Google.

The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.

And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.
