Almost definitely not the actual computer I remember having, but it was definitely very similar to this Gateway. The first computer that was actually mine was a (somewhat haphazard) frankenstein computer largely made out of parts I saved from being thrown out.

Hackers Had A Live Feed Of Every ID This Verification Company Scanned. For Over A Year.
From the very beginning of this recent obsession with identifying everyone online (yes, they like to call it "age" verification, but it always ends up as identity verification), we've been pointing out that it was a huge privacy nightmare waiting to happen. Or maybe it wasn't waiting. Maybe it was already happening. This week a...

Everything with Omarchy absolutely reeks, even aside from the fact the dev is a raging bigot. It's barely more than a year old, only just different enough from Arch to count as its own distro (which is debatable tbh), and suddenly big companies are giving it funding.

Skillet kicking Bad Wolves out of their tour because the singer had an OnlyFans is a dick move, but I really don't get how people are remotely surprised. Skillet released their first album 30 years ago, and have always evangelical Christians.

Party Vote Green Party this election.
"The difference in NZ is you can still protest Labour by party voting for the Green party & Still end up with a Labour Green coalition that would be proportionally more progressively left wing."

Hipkins says he's not bringing back the University Free Fees Scheme. Way to torpedo the chances of your Labour candidates in seats with high student numbers. If you want fees free vote greens. A vote for labour and national is a vote for higher student loans. #nzpol

If debating fascists and bigots worked, online debate culture would have eliminated oppression by now.
It’s important to be clear that the truth value of a subject does not become debatable just because somebody wants to debate. Ether. Wandering wombs. Devils in red heads, the cursed left handed. Flat earth. Phrenology. Humors. Race science. “Debate me bro!” It’s fine for the answer to be: no.

Saw the Odyssey tonight, and I thought it was ok. Kinda bland, and changing the stuff with Polyphemus was just weird. There's nothing horny in it either, and Odysseus and his crew being horny causes more than a few issues in the poem.

Ugh, PBTech trying to get out of replacing something that's still under a manufacturers warranty, which they have to honour. So far I've used a store's second most hated phrase, "under the Consumer Guarantee Act", and will follow up with "I'll take you to the disputes tribunal" if I have to.

The US never meant anything other than get fucked we take what we want.
Er. When, exactly, was this? To whom did it mean these other things? What did it mean to African people brought here as slaves? To enslaved people whose children were taken and sold? What did it mean to Native people as it pushed ever westward, pushing them before it?

Couldn't resist doing a second one now that I thought of it. Rick Rubin is trash, and is partly why people think most producers do a lot less than they actually do.

I dunno how hot this take is, but no matter the genre, over production is never a good thing. The more editing, and touching up there is, the less human it sounds, and that harms creativity.

So we're suddenly expected to believe that the party which abolished pay equity will deliver for women. Right. And that's not even considering whether their favoured coalition partners would let them.

As with their solar energy promises, their own record creates a huge credibility problem.
