I then switch to being stunned, amazed and sad that people are INTENTIONALLY inflicting this kind of pain and resource suck on other people and whole societies via war, domestic violence and other violent human vs. human activity. /3

In the little more than a week I have been in hospital dealing with a broken and surgically repaired femur (accident), I have been reflecting on a) the amount of pain I have endured, b) the amount of (public) resources being spent on my care and c) the way that my injury has implicated my family /2
