As I’ve said before, it should be humanly possible—it should!—for musicians & actors to condemn Israel’s genocidal actions & support Palestinian rights and NOT do vile Jewface (as @benschwartz.bsky.social notes, see Mark Ruffalo, Riz Ahmed, Pedro Pascal & Javier Bardem—they show it CAN be done!)
FWIW, here’s my take—as someone who loves music & is a Jew

Excellent: Macklemore loudly & publiclycalling for Palestinian rights

Excellent: Musicians rallying behind his call & dropping out of the tour in solidarity

Bad: Sheeran’s promoter dropping Macklemore

Bad: Macklemore’s Jewface

The Macklemore thing is more proof that pro-Israel activists have just lost the ability to persuade. All it can do is browbeat anyone opposed to them. That doesn't work when you're -25 in public opinion.

Palestinian freedom and Jewish safety are NOT opposing causes. And If your activism requires excusing hatred toward either group, you’ve lost the plot. “Same Love”?

I support Macklemore right to say FREE PALESTINE and speaking out for Palestinian lives.

I also absolutely condemn his antisemitism. His past grotesque Jewish caricature was indefensible and I think needs to be looked at with what we are hearing now.
