Some days remind you why science is so much fun. An inspiring afternoon of discussions with Prof. Subbaratnam Muthukrishnan in our lab, followed by a wonderful dinner and a very enjoyable evening. Very grateful for the visit to Siegen!

Next Wednesday (30 Sept, 12:00 CEST), I’ll be presenting our recent work in the Codeχ Seminar:
How does a fatty acid-binding protein connect lipid handling to chitin synthase-dependent cuticle formation and nanoscale organization in Tribolium?

Excited to share our new preprint! 🪲
We identify TcFabp8 as a link between lipid handling, chitin synthase-dependent cuticle formation and nanoscale cuticle organization.
Combining cell biology, imaging and synchrotron SAXS/WAXS.

How is chitin synthase delivered to the right place in epidermal cells?
In our recent work, we identified Sec8 and Myo15 as CHS1-interacting proteins required for its proper localization and cuticular chitin biosynthesis in insects. 🪲
