A shortish short story. Part 1 is here. Something burned my memory when I woke up at 9.47am. I meant to help a friend do some roofing. He said, meet at 6am. He’d pay me four-hundred for the day. I called him, machine-gunning apologies. He let me talk and talk and talk, and then cut the call. What the hell?
