So far all my 2026 writing plans have chucked themselves out the window, but I've been having a lovely time revisiting an old story instead + getting the chance to brainstorm its expansion. Apparently a mix of comedy of manners, courtly intrigue + folkloric fantasy is what my writing brain needs rn.

Please keep spreading the word and helping my friend.
I know a lot of people need help right now. I know all of them are somebody's friend.
Just do what you can, as often as you can. Help whomever you're able in the ways you're able. Every kindness counts.
Thank you, gentlecreatures!

GENTLECREATURES!
Please consider supporting my friend 🌱
Every little bit helps, truly.
As a bonus, it also comforts her friends who are worried about her (that's me!), so please give what you can for her safety (and my peace of mind).
I appreciate your kindness more than I can say.

Favourite lines from tonight's before-bed writing spree:
"Your heart is broken, your soul is trodden, but your conscience is clear. You're a monster of others' making, not your own."
(BTW, if you loved "Once Upon a Pumpkin" in KNIFE, you'll be excited for this story ;-))

After being sick for the last 3-4 days, I finally got a chance to write for a few minutes before bed... and of course, it's on a project that isn't meant to be worked on this year. Oh well. Maybe I'll just follow this story for a while and see where it leads...

I was visiting with my nieces and nephew today and found my debut book in my eldest niece's room. Turned out, she'd checked it out of our local library and is reading through it! I've been struggling lately with how I view my work, and this warmed my lil author heart. :'-)

I'm *so* excited for this WIP. It feels like it's helping me regain my love of writing :3
Compiling a Victorian Literature Research List for this WIP ✨🥀 While it’s *not* historical fantasy in the slightest, I want to include very vivid, grounded details for my worldbuilding and character dynamics.
Energy I'm carrying into 2026: painting my nails black, getting ready to work on a gothic fantasy featuring an avenging angel (or is he a monster?) and his misfit assortment of adopted wards

It’s here. The book that took its sweet time to compose itself, the book that brought me great agonies and deep joys… (Seriously, editing while in the Throes of your Chronic Depression is Not Fun)
BUT
I finally get to hold it!!! 😭😭😭😭

Also, been having so much fun creating banner graphics for my 2026 projects. Will be revealing them - and discussing more about these 2026 projects - in my January Newsletter.
Got inspired for one of my 2026 novella projects today + now I understand why people love writing Yearning. There is a lot of it in this thing, in both the romantic and non-romantic sense. 1/2

Going to see Wicked: For Good this Sunday and curious if it'll make me feel any different about the Elphaba/Fiyero/Glinda dynamic. (Which was my least favourite part of the musical and felt like it undercut the central relationship of the story).

Buddy reading the first Guardians of Ga’Hoole book with @2probablynever.bsky.social and 10/10 recommend. I forgot how much lore this series includes and the worldbuilding is top-notch. I strayed from MG for a while but b/w Nevermoor + this, I may be back 😂
