After the NBA smashed the Clippers, @pablo.show was asked over and over, do you feel validated? He wanted to say no. But after growing up in a crumbling media environment, and after pouring so much into his Pulitzer-winning podcast, he struggled to admit: yes, he did. www.thestar.com/sports/rapto...
Pablo Torre uncovered the Kawhi scandal and won a Pulitzer. He’s still searching for something more
The Los Angeles Clippers-Kawhi Leonard cap circumvention case as presented on “Pablo Torre Finds Out” has been his masterpiece. It’s only part of his story.

When I’m watching a basketball game, I want them to use the weirdest camera angles possible. Anything is cool with me, so long as it makes it harder to figure out what’s going on. I watch to be confused.

Just out @propublica.org: How did the Pentagon make the horrible mistake that left more than 150 school children dead? Perhaps because it cancelled an effort to limit such harm in favor of Hegseth’s lust for “lethality.”

If you took $1 billion and gave it to the endowment of a different small college each day, they could each provide a free college education to several hundred students per year in perpetuity. Instead we are using that money to bomb schools and kill students in Iran, for no clearly stated purpose.
Preliminary Pentagon cost estimate of the war in Iran is $1 BILLION a day. So far.

(1/11) If you live in NY, you’ve probably started seeing a new warning: “THIS PRICE WAS SET BY AN ALGORITHM USING YOUR PERSONAL DATA.” This mandatory disclosure went into effect late last year, and it’s the first attempt by a US state to grapple with a new generation of surveillance pricing.

So good.
Last week in Minnesota, I watched ordinary people risk their lives to protect their neighbors. In the process, they not only won a significant—though not final—victory against authoritarianism, they proved virtually every MAGA social theory wrong. (gift link) www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/0...
