Hmmm sorry about that, I couldn’t come down one side or the other on that one really. Fabulous looking film though 😎

Duncan Jones: Moon, Source Code, Warcraft, Mute.
Existential dread, time-loop headaches, bleak sci-fi…
…and somehow, we STILL end up arguing about Planet of the Vampires. Benjamin is... not helpful.

Some of it could be that ‘Day’ is the one I saw on release and on video repeatedly. It nails the sfx in a way still hard to top even today and the bleakness as well as the flashes of fun and the score just make it uno for me.
I love ‘Dawn’ but I want that story told with the sfx expertise of ‘Day’

Simply, the greatest zombie film ever made. Although there is some disagreement among my co-hosts on that 🤣 My esteemed colleague @benpegley.bsky.social awards the title to the follow-up, Day of the Dead. Which, to be fair, is also excellent.

Happy New Year lovely beans, let’s hope 2026 brings a little more kindness than 2025 did.

Really enjoyed this one, what a pleasure to return to this trilogy and talk about it.

Extended editions. Extended opinions. We revisit The Lord of the Rings and lovingly argue about endless endings, wobbly CGI, botched Witch-kings, and why Fellowship still wipes the floor with Return of the King. 🎄⚔️
