Not only is this circus act an embarrassment, but endlessly cycling between listening to Putin's demands and pressuring Ukraine only prolongs the war. It signals clearly to Putin that he can keep going with zero added consequences.

The Belgian government cannot, in fact, veto the reparation loan. All it takes is a qualified majority vote.
Bart De Wever and his government must realize that failing to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine before French elections and a new Russian mobilization would be a historic blunder.

Belgium would bear responsibility for the catastrophic fallout

After killing EU's long-term predictable funding for Ukraine and delaying weapons promised long ago (F-16s), Belgian De Wever now wants the EU to negotiate with russia over Ukraine.

These people are badly unfit for challenges that are looming over Europe.

Over the night, russians heavily bombed Odesa, sending there 50+ drones which targeted energy facilities and households. Tens are injured, more people may still be under the rubble.

This is a daily horror that ordinary Ukrainians are enduring 24/7. Trump wants to reward this w/ the Donetsk region.

Empty demands, unbacked by pressure, do not deter colonial revanchism. They invite, incentivize, and assure it.
If 🇺🇦 were to offer preemptive concessions, it would derail peace negotiations. Only the willfully blind wouldn't see that yielding to a violent aggressor, is a path to a larger war.

There are three pathways to peace in Ukraine: a just peace through Russian defeat, an unjust peace through compromise, and genocidal occupation euphemistically called peace through Ukrainian surrender. Ukraine is working towards the first goal, Europe for the second, Trump for the third.

I don't think attacking the Russian oil industry-the working engine of russia's war machine, is the same as burying 4-year-old girls under the rubble of their homes before Christmas, or plunging a city of a million people into cold and darkness in the dead of winter.
Q: Some are saying Russia's recent attacks show Putin isn't serious about peace

TRUMP: Ukraine has made some very strong attacks also. I don't say that negatively. There have been explosions in various parts of Russia. I don't think it came from the Congo. I don't think it came from the USA.

There’s something doubly grating about the pious invocation of “Western civilization” by the sort of incurious dolt who wouldn’t know a Titian canvas, a Beethoven quartet, or a Socratic dialogue if whapped them upside the head.
It has long been clear that unalloyed racism lies at the core of Trumpism, and he is becoming increasingly explicit about this.
