I attempted running for Burnsville City Council in 2026; please support Cati Gómez and Chris John instead!

Cati Gómez is another one of our great progressive City Council candidates; her family health policies have had broad bipartisan support, and she’s a fierce advocate for women and children.

The Sears at Burnsville Center has been an eyesore for nearly a decade - the whole area is 80 acres of embarrassment, and our incumbent challengers have been in office for eight and 20 years.

It’s time for some fresh ideas.

I’ve been against Flock cameras since before it was cool!

Our incumbent City Council got very close to signing a contract with Flock, we can’t give them another chance.

Chris John is another one of our great progressive candidates for Burnsville City Council - he knows his stuff!

We need a sensible trash hauling policy here - having a trio of trucks from eight companies going up and down our streets every week is insane.
August 11, 2026 at 3:22 PM
We’ll be out on our voter drive until the polls close at 8pm, give us a wave!
August 11, 2026 at 2:32 PM
We ran into Kaela Berg, my favorite progressive CD2 candidate!

Kaela authored a bill that would require realtime streaming of ICE Air flights when loading at MSP, and is endorsed by AFA-CWA, the flight attendants union. She’s represented me here in 55B for years - she’s awesome.

Good morning! Get out and vote progressive by 8pm tonight!

I’m running to flip Burnsville’s conservative City Council. Learn more at bensonforburnsville.com

Burnsville's progressive City Council candidates will be joining Kaela Berg's campaign at Ineffable Brewing for a primary results watch party on Tuesday night.

The space opens for us at 8pm, and I've heard they're expecting high turnout and relatively quick results - hopefully as early as 8:30 PM.

I'm proud to be endorsed by SEIU Local 26, who I've been working alongside advocating for better worker pay, and raising awareness of ICE activity at our airport.

SEIU Local 26 represents 8,000+ janitors, security officers, window cleaners, and airport workers in Minnesota.

Vote by August 11!

Chris, Cati, Tunisia, and myself would love to see you on Thursday evening at a meet and greet for the progressive City Council candidates!

We'll be at 69 Birnawood Dr starting at 6pm.

Lots of people, and fun fire fighting equipment, out and about at Night to Unite!

BFD tells me this new boat will be entering service soon, replacing a much smaller inflatable.

T'is the season! Burnsville friends, you can vote in person, as I just did, at City Hall 8a-4:30p through August 10, or you can wait to vote at you usual polling place on August 11, 7a-8p.

Full details are here: burnsvillemn.gov/629/Elections

Remember to flip your ballot to flip the City Council!

I had a great day working to flip Burnsville's City Council.

I knocked doors with Adam Silkey, chatted with Kaela Berg, had lunch with SEIU rideshare drivers, met voters at Burnsville's International Festival, and attended a meet and greet for Peggy Flanagan with Tina Smith and Jess Hanson.

League of Women Voters Dakota County hosted a candidate forum for Burnsville City Council - the four progressives showed up, and our conservative, no-comment incumbents cancelled at the last minute.

Perhaps Dan Kealey had some last minute predatory loans to arrange?

If you're looking to connect with fellow progressives south of the river and support the finest public servant I've ever met, please consider joining us tonight in Savage to support Jess Hanson.

We've created quite a conundrum for Burnsville's progressive voters - all four of us would be a great choice, but you can only vote for two!

Early voting is open now; please do some reading and get out and vote for myself, Tunisia, Cati, and/or Chris!

It's late notice, but if anyone would like to come and chat with progressive candidates for Burnsville City Council, we've got a great opportunity tonight!

2805 Woods Trl S, Burnsville - see you there!

Hey Burnsville! Do you want a voice on City Council from someone who didn't make a career out of being a predatory lender like incumbent Dan Kealey?

You're in luck! bensonforburnsville.com

Burnsville friends, please consider dropping by Pints & Pride tonight, Burnsville Pride's annual fundraiser. 5-8pm at Trove Brewing.

I'll be there for a quick check in at 5:00, before heading up to Roseville for a Minnesota 50501 Town Hall, where I'll be discussing my ICE Air monitoring.

It's a beautiful morning! Fellow dad-corner-friend / campaign manager Dan and I did our first public event today, exchanging many friendly rush hour waves with neighbors here in Burnsville.

We'll need your vote in the primary by August 11!

With Daniel Smith joining the race, we have enough candidates to force a primary on August 11 - we're going to need to hit the ground running once the field is finalized next week!

If able, I'd appreciate a few dollars to get lit and signage printed, thanks!

It’s officially official - I’ve just filed my paperwork at City Hall!

I think we need more progressive voices in local politics - if you agree, I’d sure appreciate a contribution - I’ve got to introduce myself to all of our neighbors over the next few months! bensonforburnsville.com
