there's a phenomenon (i think mainly of juliana huxtable) where at a certain point, all caps begins to read less like shouting and more like something carved in stone, Romanesque, a bald utterance, a direct message to be received unambiguously... It has a different relationship with time, I think.

My not-so-hot take is that what Mamdani is doing *IS* incrementalism, and the bar is so deeply in hell that a politician just doing *anything* good consistently is a total anomaly for people.
And I think for now that is good and fine, because it is restoring people’s faith that better is possible.

this is in line with my frustrations about how every trans movie is an egg crack movie. i want a movie where a woman's transness is not the core of the story because trans women are women and are subject to regular woman issues on top of trans issues. this really should not be a radical suggestion.
my media literacy opinion of the day is that if we want trans characters in media to stop being focused on so insanely we need to stop giving credence to the idea that every trans character in media is a 1:1 representation of and/or symbolic of All Trans People as a whole
