He was so damaged as a child that any giving is a sign of weakness and nothing he receives, physical or emotional, will ever be enough to satisfy him.

When my mother passed away, I discovered a box of photos and negatives left by her second husband (not my father) who had died (in the early 50's, after WWII). I donated it all to the National World War II Museum in New Orleans, since there was no family connection to maintain.

...as well as induction cooktops which include a wok burner. However, I don't know how well either of those work if you plan to do proper wok tossing of your food. You probably won't be able to create proper wok hei without using a propane torch or similar,...

If you have a wok with a curved bottom, it won't work properly with standard induction stove or cooktop because the burner surface is flat and the wok won't make proper contact. If you have a wok with a flat bottom, it should work. They do make standalone portable induction burners for woks...

Check out Until the End of the World (1991, dir. Wim Wenders). There's a 2'38" cut, which I think is the original theatrical version and there's a 4'47" cut (!) which is a director's cut that I haven't watched yet. The latter might be available on the Criterion Channel.

This issue has been going on for a lot longer than Trump has been president (and not just from the NYT) and it's one of the reasons he feels immune from repercussions.

I don't perceive racist grandpa as being in control of the administration, so I'd be interested in hearing your "Take®" on where this all comes from.

Leaving aside the personal interaction (I probably wouldn't have said anything and just silently judged), did a flight attendant not come by and collect trash before you landed?

This raises something I've been thinking about over the past few days - if the Supreme Court starts to take seriously the calls to reform it, why wouldn't they start putting their thumb on the scales in a way that makes that impossible (even more than they've done so far).

I have NTFS for Mac from Paragon Software to use on my Mac which allows me to access WD drives. It's been a while since I've had to do it, but you should be able to put files on the the hard drive from your PC or Mac and swap them back and forth. It isn't free, but it's always worked without issues.

As it happens, I *am* a Southerner - born in NC. My mother used to force me to eat BEP on Jan 1 and at the age of 8, I hated them. Now, (more than) a little older, I love them - it must be the provisioner. They turned out great. Thanks!

Do these count? (I'm making Black-Eyed Pea Gumbo for dinner, based off a NYT recipe. I guess I'm early, but I expect to have leftovers.)

Saw this in the theater when it came out with “arty” friends who couldn’t believe how much they liked a Hollywood (not a “foreign”) movie.

We just came back from a long weekend and the check-in/check-out were the same, but our room cleaning and turndown service were daily.
