The car my sister and I were riding in on our way back to KU in 1986 caught fire and burned to the ground outside of Columbia, MO. Some farmer driving by in his pickup on his way to western Kansas gave us a 160 mile ride into Lawrence. Didn't even ask for gas money

Crossing 1 1/2 states! I can drive St Louis to DC in 14! People don't realize the length of Cali

@jackiekashian.bsky.social Listening to you talk about the rampant joke theft in Vaudeville reminds me of when I learned that Abbott & Costello's "Who's on first?" routine was such a common routine in Vaudeville that it was practically a street joke. Abbot & Costello were just the first to film it.

It's definitely (along with ER) what got her the movie. Also starmaking for Marg Helgenberger & Dana Delaney.

@derfbackderf.bsky.social I read your book on Kent State recently, and I saw that you thought Michener's book was kind of conservative(I read it about 40 years ago) which wasn't quite my memory...but, tbh my main memory from his book was how he wrote that within a week of the killings, word had 1/2
