the use of strap ons, toys, fingers, and diverse body forms delinked from specific sex acts or functions in lesbian sex is what dephallicizes all that which has been inscribed phallic. ironically, attempting to "bind" lesbian sex to universally prohibit or restrict parts of the body or modes of sex "by taxonomy" is a "phallic" act ... lesbians in love are constantly remixing how the body is touched and used and interpreted, and what toys and objects can be created and used as a shared mode. the barrier between the emergent ("biological") and the created ("artificial") is breached, and so the potential of lesbian sex exists in an ever-shifting biological-machinic coitus. very often this is why lesbian sex is treated as either "inferior" or "corrupted". one will claim that the strap on is "inferior to the real natural Man" whereas another will claim that the strap on is "an alien invasion upon a pure natural zone". both seek to tear apart the intimate union, and in doing so render the lesbian a creature of pure nature. but what this politics rejects is that which keeps lesbian sex so self-reflective: that the lesbian uses her hands in the act of constructing new "technologies of pleasure".
