Smoke was bad bad last week. They made headway on the Sand Creek, Bobcat Lakes, and Moose fires in the last week. We also got RAIN!

I love these very tall larkspur's at our rental. When they dry this fall I'm going to save some seeds, as we're hoping to move to a smaller home soon.

Beautiful chunky cutties on the eastern front today. Also got into a few spry brookies. I guided J today, I scouted this creek two days ago and fished it.

Incredible the difference in water this spring vs last spring at one of the falls. We couldn't get nearly as close this year, the water was turbid (~3ft depth), and cold 34°F. This creek is a somewhat large feeder of the Big Hole River. #montana #swmontana

Went to Poindexter Slough this weekend and we managed to get two blue tagged trout. We also tried a new place and I caught a lil guy.
The Big Hole opens TOMORROW. We're very happy about the precip happening now and the potential for more snow at higher altitude.

I'm trying not to squish it, so chunky! We got into some beautiful buttery Texas toast today, and some flashy cutthroat. The rainbows were Extra Feisty and I only managed to land a lil guy 😅 #montana #flyfishing

J took some pics of part of the estate sale finds today. I love forest service memorabilia. Little trinkets and things. We also got some hand tied flies and a mint Browning fly reel. We're gonna catch a fish for the old feller.

First fishes of 2026 at Rock Creek. This beautiful cutty was my favorite. We got some very flashy, fighting rainbows, too. J caught a big ol fat one. I received a Battenkill reel for Christmas and was anxious to get out to use it.
