As chair of the @bkcb6.bsky.social Business Affairs and Licenses committee, we have been pushing for year-round outdoor dining for years. When it went away, so did mass support for our favorite bars and restaurants. I’m thrilled and cannot wait to be having a cozy dinner outside in December!
Outdoor dining is coming back year round. Thanks @cmrestler.bsky.social, @cmshahanahanif.bsky.social, CM Aviles & BP Reynoso.

CB6 Business Affairs, chaired by @aspishakthomas.com, backed it. So did Transportation, chaired by @brooklynspoke.bsky.social & @tonymelone.bsky.social, & our Full Board.

Credit to @mayor.nyc.gov & Deputy Mayor Borzag on Block by Block & LIFT list w/ 120 city owned sites to build housing on.

I sent letter flagging 250 Baltic St (yes @bkcb6.bsky.social office) , zoned R6, so residential needs no ULURP.

🤞 list become 121 🏠 sites 🏢.

In a neighborhood where lots of people lack access to cooling infrastructure and many families don't have the resources for summer camps or vacations, this is an injustice. The next nearest pool, the Double D, is also closed right now, and it also serves a lot of families in NYCHA buildings.
Pool Report: Parks Dept. Leaves Red Hookers Hot And Bothered — Again! - Streetsblog New York City
We don't want to win a Pool-itzer, but for the second straight year, we're forced to cover how an equipment failure has led to the shuttering of the Red Hook Pool.

I finally got to see the newly restored Carroll Street Bridge in Gowanus and it's a thing of beauty. Open for pedestrians and people on bikes only. I'm so proud of my friends at @bkcb6.bsky.social for advocating for this and thankful to @nycdot.bsky.social for getting it done. I'm overjoyed!

Another simple yet important addition to the bike network in Brooklyn: 2 parking spaces removed to make it easier and safer for people on bikes to access President Street from Prospect Park West. Thanks @nyc-dot.bsky.social and @bkcb6.bsky.social for making this happen!

NYC’s headed for a “heat dome”, with an emergency declared and heat indices possibly hitting 109°

~4/5 of @bkcb6.bsky.social runs hotter than citywide avg

I built a page about it

Every year community boards across New York City submit a "District Needs Statement", identifying their district's priorities with the hopes of influencing the city budget. @racioppomike.bsky.social writes about the process and highlights our call on @bkcb6.bsky.social for community input.

We did it, it's open! I both checked out and returned books today at the new Carroll Gardens popup library. In just 3 months, so many people came together to make this dream a reality and it's a beautiful thing, we've never been more back 🥹
Come by 250 Baltic and take out a book like @aspishakthomas.com did today!
📣The Carroll Gardens Pop-up Library is officially open!

Check out the space on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 1 PM and 5 PM.

Big thanks to DCAS, Cobble Hill Association, @bklynlibrary.bsky.social, IKEA & Friends of Carroll Gardens Library for their collaboration 📚
