just my opinion: i'd like to think most historians will be able to draw a pretty clear line from how the US empire, technology, and capitalism have developed to now. i'm more concerned with all the people right now who can't see the ways we've built up to this moment or envision any way out of it.
The national suicide being committed by the Republican-led United States has no historical precedent. Centuries from now (if humanity survives that long), historians will struggle to explain how such a thing was possible.
