Proper Cafe on New Jersey Ave in Truxton Circle area is having a “soft opening” this week. I was just passing by so didn’t try anything but there were quite a few people in the dining room!

Bravo, DC! Bravo, Department of Buildings! You have rolled out a new site (yes, it seems to function somewhat better than the old site) but all of the interesting historical data is gone! I knew I should have spent the last few days saving stuff - this isn’t my first rodeo. Bring back DCRA.

Got the “new” pneumonia vaccine this morning at my annual physical. Not sure if it was the vaccine or the tech, but I yelled. I really think it was her - I have had a lot of shots and never yelled. At least it is not sore. Poor kids who may have to get 3 shots in the future for the MMR.

Trash day is not my fave day of the week, but finding a Bloomingdale duplo creature on my garage has made it a good Wednesday. (Doesn’t make up for missing a total eclipse of the sun!)

Last evening - National Night Out at Tanner Park in Eckington. Wasn’t expecting to see puppies and kittens. Also, lots of National Guard - but they were our DC folks!

Walked down what may be the prettiest Bloomingdale block (and Democratic stronghold) to the starting point for an ANC / DC agency alley walk. Wasn’t expecting a dead raccoon on the alley side.

Gotta love the UPS drivers who don’t leave the package in full view of the street AND knock on the door! Still see my fave driver from time to time- he now has a route over around Shaw and he always calls to me by name when I am walking around there.

@dcwater.bsky.social - these notices were posted on doors in the area of First and Randolph NW. The construction team says they are not shutting off the water until the entire block is finished. Can you explain this notice?
