Ruby Bridges was 6-years-old when she stepped into the history books. Bravely accompanied by her mother, she was the first Black child to desegregate an all-white school in the South. It was not long ago…

Today is her birthday. She is still with us. She is 72. Happy birthday, Ruby Bridges 💜

So much propaganda is being spread by ICE. They also don’t mention that the 26-year-old man they shot had legal authorization to work in the United States and was not the target of the ICE operation.

Blessed be the researchers who have already written extensively on a topic I am researching in service to one (1) sentence in my novel. I will think of you when I remove the dialogue that sparked this day-long rabbit hole in the edit. #fantasywriting #thetiffanyproblem

Reminder: we are war crime-ing Cuba right now because Trump and Rubio want to collapse their government. Not a major part of the media discourse but it should be.

Also let me recommend historian Annette Gordon Reed’s “On Juneteenth” for your summer reading list. I felt vindicated reading that Reed, a Texan, always saw Juneteenth as a Texas celebration. Her dive into the complicated history of Texas, slavery, integration & this holiday is riveting.

Anyway we should support Julián (Cartoon Saloon) when it comes out!

Based on the beautiful kids book "Julián is a Mermaid" and shaping up to be very openly queer in presentation and has a queer writer on the team (Juliany Taveras)

Let's support those who aren't afraid of helping tell our stories.

In Kherson, the museum held 156 paintings and drawings by Oleksii Shovkunenko.

russians stole 147.
Only nine remained.

I saw them in Kyiv and wrote about how they survived — and why the story of the stolen collection is not over.
