I'd vote for it
Is there a political party in favor of reverting the Internet to just being a lot of poorly-indexed Geocities pages? 3 megs per person, free! All social problems solved. If you don't like it, use the newly-revived usenet we'll create.

I mean, he might actually be right - if the Dems win enough to Lame Duck him, the war will stop and the Strait can reopen.
Hahaha, imagine being a republican member of Congress, pulling up Bloomberg, an seeing this:

I worry this sort of... generalized political and economic pessimism just makes everything feel pointless, but if you zoom out, things are getting better along almost every axis, and the biggest problems we face are all solvable.

Dolly Parton rose from poverty to stardom. She gave $500 to every student in her hometown who finished high school; she built hospitals & bald eagle preserves; her Imagination Library has gifted 300 million books to children. Roger Ebert met her and came away thinking she was a literal angel. RIP.

In fairness, I watched eXistenZ from start to finish and still had no idea what it was
today's youth will never have the experience of scrolling the 40 or so channels you had at 1 AM on a friday night looking for something interesting or horny and catching the back half of eXistenZ without having any idea what it was
It’s hard to explain but tv was better when you couldn’t watch the show you wanted whenever you wanted to watch it and most of the shows were worse and the TVs were worse and the entire experience was worse, that’s when it was better

After Microsoft fired 136 of id Software's 185 staffers (+ over 3000 other Xbox jobs), producer Andrew Willis is saying worker-owned studios are "the only way to fix the video game industry"!

As one such worker-owned studio, we couldn't agree more!

Also: Don't let the pigeon drive the bus
This is an actual line that was added to the official system prompt for Codex for GPT-5.5 by OpenAI. Usually the system prompt is as minimal as possible, so I assume it would otherwise mention goblins a lot.

AIs are weird.

Social media has a problem: it relies utterly on authentic interaction between real people.

Advertising online has a problem: It relies utterly on real people seeing it.

For this and other reasons, the next big advance on the Internet will be a system to verify your realness. I guarantee it.

Really happy about this - Orban created the playbook Trump, Farage et al all tried to copy. And he had more to work with - a majority that allowed him to rewrite the constitution, years to rebuild the judiciary, *everything*

And it wasn't enough. He lost. This is a seismic moment.
