I have found my thoughts wandering to wildlife in areas of conflict and war. In parallel, to the people continuing to fight for them under incredibly difficult circumstances. Shout out to CABS and their amazing colleagues in Lebanon. As they say, they remind us of our shared humanity.

Spent threatened species day surveying for...threatened species. Perfect weather for the Bathurst Copper Paralucia spinifera. Such stunning butterflies and so very threatened. Sad to see blackberry and scotch broom untreated and expanding on important sites.

I have been watching the expansion of the aptly named Arion (slug) ater (black) in the upper Blue Mountains over the past 10 years. I counted 19 in a new area this evening. Invasive, and bring a suite of issues, but oh so perfectly black. Quite stunning. Time to get collecting.

I did wonder if I was the only one in the Enmore to wonder if an evening with Mr Jack White would impact my ability to hear bird calls in my dotage. Ears still ringing. Worth it!

I love the minimalist look and structure of funnel-web spider webs. Very excited to find a Hadronyche cerberea (Southern tree dwelling F-w) this week and H. versuta (Blue Mountains F-w).
