“The worst place ever I’ve been in my life," Sakariye Abdi Mohamed, a Somali asylum seeker, told me over the phone from Guantanamo Bay last week.

Sakariye is one of 7 or 8 Somalis who are being held at Gitmo. They say guards tell them the order to keep Somalis at the facility comes from DC.
The Trump administration is imprisoning Somali immigrants in Gitmo

85% of our potash comes from canada.

My favorite factoid about how important potash is to agriculture in the US is that the first patent granted in this country, in 1790, was for "a novel method for the production of potash."

Schiff voted to confirm Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and one of the first things she did was cut $1 billion for a program that paid local farmers to deliver to food banks and schools.
Later today, the Senate Agriculture Committee will again vote on a Farm Bill that falls short for California families.

We need a bipartisan farm bill. Badly. But this isn’t bipartisan and doesn’t meet the needs of our people.

yes, definitely run on beef prices, tom
Emmer says Republicans need to talk more about grocery prices that aren't expensive: "Eggs are at pre-pandemic prices. Ah, beef is at, ah, less than $2 a pound for ground beef ... I think we have a lot to run on."

“Ms Rachel would want to see me murdered because I’m Jewish” is an insane thing to say, idek how you could think this without being in an insane reactionary bubble
Do you think this is a compelling argument? Do you think you're winning anyone over with this?

All these guys that are quitting have way more to lose than Ed Sheeran, who could almost certainly sue over losing his concert dates unless he has the worst lawyers alive
There’s Beoga withdrawing as Ed Sheerans band on his US tour. Fair play.

I'm not convinced Scott Jensen knows what the Auditor does. He's currently bloviating about food waste in Minnesota's free school meals program. The Auditor doesn't do anything with that. The Auditor's job to work with small towns and municipalities to support them in their work. That's it.

“The $2.8 billion package, which would be purchased with U.S. taxpayer dollars, includes 40,000 bombs that weigh 2,000 pounds each…”
Trump’s planned sale of controversial bombs to Israel is largest in years
The pending transfer of the 2,000-pound munition, involved in scores of incidents resulting in civilian casualties, sets up a potential litmus test for Democrats.

'I'm trying to understand why you did this' is the siren call of this entire administration
PATEL: The previous regulation automatically disqualified any individual who participated in either side of it

KENNEDY: Either side of beastiality? So you disqualified the animal?

P: Well, we have great canines, but we're not going to disqualify them

K: I'm trying to understand why you did this.

The fact that both Democrats and Republicans are racing to the 10 side of a 90-10 issue really tells you a lot about the state of our democracy (it's a corporatocracy), and how both parties view democracy in general (as a nuisance).

Between this, the Flock cameras used to stalk women, the bots used to harass college girls, and the proposed legislation to check children's genitals, it's clear the end goal is to legally codify women's lack of privacy & thus advance the idea we are property to be monitored from birth.
