You are correct. Less airline usage, more trucks. Hard for clerks to cancel stuff from blue boxes. But your efforts were valiant. The mail ballots are another animal altogether. We would sweep the office every night, but it only takes one idiot throwing a tub of ballots away to ruin our image

As a recently retired Letter Carrier, I can tell you that unless you live close to or you drop your mail at a mail processing center, it WILL NOT get postmarked the same day. The cancelation machines at the PO have been gone for over a decade. Plan ahead and mail it earlier. Problem solved.

They only want the last mile delivery of the USPS. The universal mandate is what they want to do away with. Imagine having to pay $20/mo (or more) to get delivery every day? UPS and FedEx charge people to pick up, they can't compete with the USPS on that so they want to break is to get even 🤦

The USPS has about 70k that could be at risk of losing their jobs if the privatization push happens.
