I dunno if it's that odd -- it's been 16 years since the original show started airing, and the fans that grew up with the show are still eating well.
May as well attract some young viewers with a new show that parents can watch along with 'em, and entertain both at the same time.

I mean, I agree it’s about money, but that also applies to Google’s heavily flawed automated flagging system, which is the more likely culprit here.

Google Pay is a digital wallet, not a payment processor.
It doesn’t actually process transactions with merchants.
Also, that’s a service they own? They’re not pressuring themselves to take down items from their store.

The larger issue at play here is whether or not lootboxes constitute gambling, and the lack of legal precedent with digital goods like this.
This could be that precedent. Valve is party to this issue, so here we are.
