why don't replicators replicate themselves or each other or areas they have experience and expertise in?

wouldn't it lead to better outcomes?

the shark cake replication is the essence of the crisis. essentially hubris thinking that we should be able to easily replicate the last study in high impact journals on our first unpiloted attempt. not taking into account the effects of time or context change.

i dont see why just because they picked that example it is somehow the beginning of the crisis, it is just the example they chose.

Many Labs 4 preregistered both 60 and 80 as minimum participant cut offs. when it came time to report the results, 60p cut off had better results for replicators, so that is the one that got reported.. what does that mean?

I would prefer limits on how much money a person could get - nobody can really handle 10 phd students, meanwhile others have 0

capping the number of apps per PI i think risks centralizing funding more. imagine you spent your 3 and didn't get any, while someone else got all of their 3, and consistently get them.

why do you think such a huge project generated so little discussion?

the point is to get famous, silly

i think by like 2050 we should be contenders. hopefully by the time i am dead but needs a LOT more money into the sport to be competitive

seems to be built with an assumption of small samples, since anything past .0001 or whatever is discounted in evidential value in some way

yes, how did they land on this curve, can you explain? seems to penalize big time past .045, it is because of the formula they apply?

Notice that *small* p values --- those with high evidential weight --- are mapped to 0, and values near the significance criterion are mapped to arbitrarily large values. This means that positive evidence is destroyed, and negative evidence is given very heavy weight! Example: suppose you... 5/?

I guessed you’d bring this up.

You should read more about replication. Scientists really don’t do it, you know. They never did, in the real world.

agreed, and if you look closely at replications most often they are done by people who are not connected with the research field. often being done in fact by teams that actively doubt the research field, often they are not piloted and problems are found. mostly just not done how orig authors would

have you implemented any WM specific variable labels or meta.data? basically, if you standardize your labels and meta data you can combine datasets if they measure the same or similar things. big improvement and could be useful for you journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10....

Datasets and analysis scripts are becoming more available online, but most datasets are still unclear and difficult to use due to poor meta-data. Adopting stand...
