i just signed up for a pilot program with our utility for a time of use rate for EVs. One discount window from 11pm - 5am at 6¢/kWH and 13¢/kWH the rest of the time. The regular rate is 12¢/kWH. I should avoid the issues that come with normal TOU rate schedules and cut my driving costs a lot.

We're a two EV family. We bought our first one new and yes, it was expensive. However our second one was used. It had taken a significant depreciation hit. I have enough experience to ensure the battery pack is good so I could take the discount. Get the battery checked and you may get a good deal.

FWIW I tend to agree with you. Democrats need to attract as many people as possible to vote for them and the voters who will determine the outcome of this election are to the right of Dems. Some slightly and some more so. Are there interesting Prog ideas? Yes, explore them. See what gets traction.

I think it's the closest to the tradition of picking someone's wife. That seems to be a way to prevent picking an incumbent who would be difficult to defeat. It's a way for the Governor to stay neutral in party politics.

If he had already held an elective office, the people of Maine would know a lot more about him and his character. That's a benefit of being a career politician. Sometimes those careers get cut short.
