A six-disc #VinylRoastDinner box-set is a rarity but tonight’s proceedings have assumed an almost ceremonial grandeur. LCD Soundsystem on the deck. Party in the kitchen. Roast beef, BDJ stuffing and IPA. Civilization, briefly, has peaked.

Rush’s return this year is a heartwarming tale and the newly released Neil Peart documentary tells the story of the late drummer with considerable class. Permanent Waves has aged remarkably well and the brisket has tenderised with similar grace. #VinylRoastDinner

David Bowie’s final album ★ presides over the roasting of a gammon and pork loin with the requisite gravitas, whilst a very hazy IPA provides a suitably refreshing counterpoint. The resulting synthesis is a rather magnificent #VinylRoastDinner

A new Interpol album is always a harbinger of much excitement, and this latest offering in no way disappoints. Disappointment is also rarely associated with a piece of tender beef, nor a very hazy IPA. The resulting outcome is a satisfying #VinylRoastDinner

A seminal Happy Mondays release on red vinyl, a generous cut of brisket with associated sundries and Polly’s Floret are synthesised, resulting in a very pleasing Bank Holiday Weekend #VinylRoastDinner.

Another of 2026’s finest graces the #VinylRoastDinner turntable. Boards of Canada’s Inferno elevates the roasting of a pork loin and the simmering of a ham into something approaching ceremony. A schooner of Vocation completes the ritual.

New album season has opened with an absolute banger. You have waited all year for a release of this quality. Yard Act’s third album is an upgrade on an already impressive discography and deserves to share the stage with the exalted elite cut of meat: brisket. #VinylRoastDinner

Interpol’s debut album is on the deck more often than most in my collection. In all honesty though, it does deserve to be. Equally deserving is a new summery take on the #VinylRoastDinner featuring gammon, new potatoes & rice salad. An IPA from Polly’s is the pièce de résistance.

The Fall return to the #VinylRoastDinner table this week, with standout effort Fall Heads Roll. A loin of pork and a gammon joint vie for pride of place alongside a regulation IPA.

Angine de Poitrine emerged back in early March on the back of a barnstorming KEXP session and they have now taken over the world. The latest album, finally available on vinyl should be served with roast lamb, cheesy leeks and IPA. #VinylRoastDinner

Rush made a triumphant return this week with a new drummer who has surpassed expectations, despite Neil Peart being such a tough act to follow. In 1980, I heard 2112 for the first time and it sounds as fresh today as the brisket & Romanian IPA that accompany it. #VinylRoastDinner

One can only feel for Hearts this weekend, as their gallant effort to win the title was stricken by the establishment’s brick wall. New Order’s, Power Corruption and Lies is an apposite #VinylRoastDinner offering. Roast beef and IPA are nearly inconsequential, but only nearly.

Pixies’ latest album is very topical. ‘The Night the Zombies Came’ is a great #VinylRoastDinner choice with pork, gammon and IPA. Luckily they were kept at bay.

Wishing you all a fabulous Bank Holiday weekend with The Housemartins’ debut album. Pale ale and a beef joint complete a #VinylRoastDinner for a satisfied houseful of hungry kin.

Record Store Day purchases always need to be a bit different, so I went for Peter Gabriel’s zoetrope picture disc of Sledgehammer. #VinylRoastDinner with brisket and IPA will be my testimony.

A new album finally graces this week’s #VinylRoastDinner. @HeyColossus’ latest missive, Heaven Was Wild is played at a lower volume than desired due to the youngest’s GCSE revision. Roast beef and a DIPA from @BuxtonBrewery provide relative consolation. Definitely worth a listen.

A Mother’s Day treat on the turntable, but a poignant one as we recognise #PhilCampbellRIP with Motörhead’s seminal live album, No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith including brisket and IPA. What more could anyone want? #VinylRoastDinner

Marillion’s polished pop album is on the deck and the 2022 remix sounds mighty fine. An IPA and gammon is gatecrashed by cauliflower cheese and this week’s #VinylRoastDinner is better for it. Enjoyed catching up with @realalecyclist.bsky.social at Mold Alehouse beforehand.

Saw Suede on Friday night in a glorious gig, so am following up with a #VinylRoastDinner involving their sophomore album, Dog Man Star. A 6.6% Polly’s pale ale and a chicken dinner with associated trimmings bring a fine weekend to a close.

Any band that included Eldritch, Hussey and Dr Avalanche was always going to be onto a winner. Here’s the evidence.

Arctic Monkeys’ Alex Turner always tried to project his own image of The King, so a glass of Elvis Juice works well in tandem with this superb album. A succulent beef roasting joint gets a rating of Four Stars out of Five. #VinylRoastDinner
