We learnt this week that functionally illiterate American workers earn as much as the average Brit.

There is not much schools can do about this.

We need other parts of govt to take responsibility.

The best challenge on the UK government's vocational subject at 14 push, and food for thought for us in Scotland too.
I've weighed in on the great vocational education debate.

From what we can see of the govt plans, I think they will repeat mistakes of the past.

Also, we need to retire the phrase "parity of esteem". It's not helping.

Big news on technical education in England. As with all reforms, the two key questions are: what incentives are being created for schools, and do those incentives align with what's best for students?

I really rate this book - great subject knowledge for probability. It also reminds me of how interlinked Maths and Philosophy are.
