Leaving Primetime thinking best how to dress more like Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen.

Also, a movie that I think is maybe bad but has many good features and performances.

Robert Nozick: Utilitarian theory is embarrassed by the possibility of utility monsters who get enormously greater sums of utility from any sacrifice of others than these others lose.
Effective Altruists: We are in a polycule with the utility monster.

Just watched The Drama and my biggest critique is that they needed to film/treat it as more of a comedy.

Hold on, checking the Fallout Timeline to see where we're at in potential dystopic outcomes.

Kind of want to make a list of movies that are before things that actually happen yet become better understood by subsequent events. Like how Starship Troopers and Three Kings are both pre 9/11 movies.
Much like people are never going to believe One Battle After Another predates anyone knowing who Greg Bovino is, no one will believe Eddington was made at a time when data centers were at 43 percent approval, 42 percent disapproval

Second Odyssey Thought: It is a very Christian adaptation of the story of Odysseus.

Just got out of the Odyssey. Is Christopher Nolan the best film chronographer of the Global War on Terror? Probably not, but he sure is trying.

Gilbert and Sullivan would have found the Trump administration quite familiar I'm sure.

Having finished a replay recently I think one reason everyone got mad but are too cowardly to say it was because they really wanted a Return of the Jedi style ending and the game went with a downer ending instead.
All right, here’s why I think this. In the series, you play as Shepard, an officer in the human military as part of a galactic alliance.

In the first game, you discover an enemy called the reapers are coming to attack the galaxy (nobody believes you), and you have to stop them.
I was saying to a friend of mine yesterday , I knew we were in trouble media literacy when there was a ginormous controversy over the ending of the video game Mass Effect 3, they wrote a wiki page about it (tbf that’s cause wiki editors are nerds)

just such a catastrophic failure of media literacy

"after talking to local sports parents, I realized the urgent need for Congressional legislation about coaches who don't realize how good some of their players are, because they aren't getting them into the game. we also must take action against referees, who aren't letting the boys play out there"

There's a lot I would like to say about this (you might say a whole book's worth even!), but I'm be brief. The idea of beef as a human right is indeed a core part US political culture. It was a so-called right that was actually delivered, thus reifying its existence.
It's very funny that the people who would insist to you that climate change was caused by 100 companies also insisted to you that cheap beef was more or less a human right

This post has inspired me to finally write that movie about the parents of the teams that lost to Air Bud suing to get those wins vacated. Unsung heroes.
I say this with no ill will or animosity: if you hate the Democratic Party, then please don’t run for our nomination.

Don’t use our resources. Don’t rely on our volunteers. Don’t use our infrastructure. Don’t ask Democrats to invest their time, money, and energy in your campaign.

Seeing a bunch of people describe AI lowering barriers like Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, crypto, ghost kitchens, etc. were also pitched as lowering barriers and I gotta wonder what people think will be different this time?

Seems more like Avatar
Sucker Punch
'80s: The Goonies
'90s: Hook
'00s: How the Grinch Stole Christmas

What is the movie of the 2010s that follows this pattern of "beloved generational movie often debated as either a classic or a colossal piece of shit?"

Both a blessing and a curse that horror movies are the only current film genre where you can regularly grapple with complex emotions and feelings while having people actually watch it. (No, I will not see Obsession but I have been told a lot about it.)

I just saw The Sheep Detectives, and I have never been more surprised by a film in my life. I expected a silly, dumb little film, and what I got was not that in the slightest in the best way.
