My personal theory is at least for language that diaspora kids associate their language with their parents tongue, so it grosses them out to hear the words in a sexual or romantic manner. I personally feel this way too but I wouldn't make a video taunting people back home on the internet, lol.

Diaspora kids seem to be very uncomfortable by how romance exists in their homelands, whether romantic language, or behavior. And it's interesting to me that I've seen different races react similarly.

2) On TikTok, there was a video trending where this diaspora Desi girl was taunting fob Desi people that do baby talk in Urdu/Hindi. She said it is super cringe, and embarassing. A few TikToks down, I saw that she made a video about liking calling her partners Daddy in bed.

1) I grew up in HK as a Brown girl, so I'm super used to EA culture. When I was in university in Toronto (where I am right now), I saw a Chinese intl couple in the lift. They were being a tad lovey dovey, and then I saw who appeared to be a local Chinese kid that was visibly embarrassed by that.

it’s striking how little empathy exists between diaspora kids and more recent immigrants too
i’m a brown Canadian, and the tension feels high right now with racism rising, a lot of that pressure ends up being redirected within the community

do you live in Canada? I wrote an article about my experience as a Brown girl in Greektown(Toronto) growing up that you might really like. I really want to find more Greeks on Substack especially in the diaspora. Greektown is my favorite place in Canada.
