Online leftism is a powerful system of self-surveillance that effectively captures & counters righteous anger. People who want to fight fascism have to actually fight it & not be consumed by timeline wars, leftist influencer rage bait & manipulation by outside forces, warns @williamcson.bsky.social.
Another way out: Those who won't fight power will fight each other

For people thinking, what's the big deal about the 4% cut in global oil production coming next week, that's the scale of the 1973 OPEC crisis and 1979 Iran war oil crisis. Each followed by a major recession.

Prices and supply are global. And global oil stocks are already gone. It's a calamity. 1/

Massive layoffs today at McClatchy's local newspapers in Lexington, Kentucky; Miami, Florida; Sacramento, California; Charlotte, North Carolina and more. Reactionary politics depend on an uninformed populace and here we are: www.lpm.org/news/2026-09...
McClatchy guts Lexington Herald-Leader newsroom, among nationwide layoffs
McClatchy laid off 13 journalists at the Lexington Herald-Leader, a majority of its reporters, as a part of its deep, nationwide layoffs.

There’s a petition signed by more than one hundred academics (& counting!) in support of Nathan Cofnas—the racist who instigated the pile on that led to J. Arday’s death—because he lost his postdoc. Apparently there’s nothing a white man can do that deserves consequences.

ICE just spent $1.5 BILLION to purchase two massive prisons in California it was already using for detention, in an effort to avoid oversight from the state, which has been pressuring the private prison company that owned them. CoreCivic will continue operating the facilities.

Pope Leo is a G and they're never going to let us have a Black American pope again
Everyone’s enjoying the excommunication drama but there are also lessons for pro-democracy political actors. Decades of accommodating and appeasing this sect did not work and only emboldened them. You have to go whole hog. When you have power, break the back of the reactionaries. Shut them out
OH MY GOD GUYS

okay so priests who want back in have to find a bishop willing to vouch for them, swear fealty to Vatican II and then HAND-WRITE THE POPE AN APOLOGY LETTER (I gues so he knows they didn’t use AI? 😂) and are on probation for 1-3 years

this is ten times spicier than I even thought

The idea that people genuinely believe in things, let alone the moral imperative of a genocide, and that these beliefs ought to mechanically translate into real and observable action is entirely foreign for a disturbingly large subset of American leadership. Like it is an alien form of life.

Even moreso than he LIKES the Fed, Roberts acknowledges the importance of the Fed to his top interest group, which is corporate interests. Same with mail-in voting: It would hurt Republican voters most, and Roberts needs them. All "good" opinions from him are best for his preferred Americans.
Ugh. Supreme Court rules in Slaughter, 6-3 that Trump can fire people from the FTC.

But in Cook, Court rules 5-4 that Trump cannot fire everybody from the Fed.

Roberts writes both majority opinions

There's no real difference between the FTC and the FED other than Roberts likes the Fed.

None. Because wealth derives now entirely from predation, not production, so actual journalism inherently threatens it.
How isn't there one uber rich person who just wants to spend like $500M to run break-even local papers in a few places? Like, literally no rich people even believe in journalism at all anymore?

this is simply no longer a winning electoral strategy anywhere — not in PA, not in NYC, not in the USA, not on earth. the people of the planet are rejecting the us-israeli war machine. the only way this politics can survive in democracies is by subverting the will of voters and democracy itself.
