He got the High Ground.
What gets lost in all of this is that in four years here, postseason moments aside, Casty's OPS+ was exactly 100. That means the Phillies were paying $20M per for a league average player when what they needed a power right hand bat in the cleanup spot. It was a mistake all around. Let's move on.

The long-term deals they had to commit to in order to get players most of us wanted pretty much ensured they would be running it back for a few years. If the catching market was better — it sucks across the sport — they wouldn't have re-signed JT. They are giving Casty the heave-ho, eating $20M.

I think Phils official day for pitchers and catchers is Feb. 10. Next week is usually the second week of High Performance Camp. Phantasy Camp is Jan. 21-25 and the players start trickling in then. Used to be JT would be one of the first there, but not this year. Nola's usually an early arrival, too.

Feb. 10, so 30 days away. First ST game is 41 days away. Opening Day is 74 days away.

They've talked about being creative for two off-seasons now. Maybe that translates into some deferred money for Bichette: a lower AAV for '26 while they carry the dead money of Casty and Walker and a big jump in '27 if there's a season. Get what you can for Bohm now. Not saying it happens. Still...
