Realised it's probably not that slow change after all. It's only been 2 days or so but it feels like weeks because today has been pretty intense

Nanami turns just enough to pull Mahito against his chest instead and he places a kiss on the blue hair. He knows the curse is still learning, but for now he appreciates the intention behind the confession.

"Thank you, Mahito."

"I think Nanami is warm," the curse mumbles against his back.

The uncharacteristically small voice is almost drowned out by the combined noise of the hot pan and the hum of the cooker hood, but for Nanami that might as well have been a shout.

Mahito stays quiet long enough after that for Nanami to turn to check on the curse, but before he is able to do so, the air shifts and suddenly a smaller weight bumps to lean against his back.

The curse stays there and holds the back of his shirt almost hesitantly.

Nanami waits.

"Warm. Comforting." Nanami says and briefly thinks of a certain smile he should have forgotten by now. "There's also a sense of longing when you're not together."

"How does love feel like for you then, Nanami?"

Mahito clearly wants to stay on the topic as much as Nanami wants to avoid it. But Nanami has learned that avoiding isn't an option when the curse sets its mind to something, so he gives the noodles another stir and then gives up with a sigh.

He can feel Mahito's eyes on him as he chops the mushrooms on the board.
It isn't new. Mahito spends his time like this quite often these days, watching Nanami do any simple tasks with interest and something like wonder. Nanami tries not to think about its meaning too much.

"Mushrooms?" Nanami asks instead while showing the packaging.

Mahito nods enthusiastically with a lick of his lips and Nanami places the package on the counter, ripping the plastic open carefully.

"I believe it differs from person to person," he offers as an explanation, fully aware that it won't satisfy the curse's need for an answer.

Mahito pouts as a predictable result and leans into his hand. "Boo. That's not very helpful, Nanami."
