Pro sports quietly changed their cannabis rules and nobody noticed:

WADA dropped CBD in 2018. NFL stopped suspending for THC in 2020. MLB in 2020. NBA in 2023. UFC in 2021.

The stigma is aging faster than the athletes.

Tourist walks in. Orders the strongest thing on the menu. Day one of the trip.

Every budtender in Amsterdam has watched this movie. They know exactly how it ends.

10 seconds: how fast smoked THC reaches your brain.
90 minutes: how long an edible can take to arrive.
1964: the year THC was first isolated. In a Tel Aviv lab.

Most people get all three wrong.

Paper certificates in a drawer is not a records system.

Some Dutch gemeenten ask for proof of staff training at every permit renewal, for every employee. We made a record sheet: one page per staff member, free for waitlist members.

Eight questions, one minute: does every customer at your counter get the same level of advice, or does it depend on who happens to be working?

The Counter Check is live. Free for waitlist members, occasionally uncomfortable.

"Indica = couch lock" is the most repeated line in every coffeeshop.

It's also mostly marketing. The label on the menu predicts the effect worse than the terpenes do.

Your beer and your bud are cousins. Not a metaphor, a family tree. Cannabis and Humulus are the two closest genera in one botanical family, split about 28 million years ago. A botanist called it in 1583. Hops still will not get you high.

The most confident quality test at any counter has been peer reviewed exactly zero times. White ash tracks burn temperature, moisture and mineral load. Flower quality was never actually tested. You are grading your own draw, not the product.

Three different disasters. One identical answer. A tourist with a canal tour in 40 minutes, a regular asking why this batch feels different, a Saturday rush with nobody who knows the menu. Every one is a training problem wearing a costume.

The two most important words on every menu are a smell category in a lab coat. Nature Plants sequenced them in 2021: genome-wide, the labels barely tracked anything. What they did track was a handful of aroma terpenes. Read the chemotype, not the name.

Coffeeshop staff training is not optional in a lot of Dutch gemeenten. It is tied to the exploitatievergunning. Most owners find that out at renewal.

Every budtender in Amsterdam has watched all three of these happen. Today. Probably before lunch.

The skunk smell is not terpenes. It is sulfur, and science only proved it in 2021. Same molecule family as actual skunk spray and beer left in the sun. It peaks late in flowering and fades on the shelf, which makes your nose a freshness meter.

Your eyes don't get red because of the smoke.

They get red because THC lowers your blood pressure and the vessels in your eyes dilate.

That's why edibles do it too. It was never the smoke.

New here? Good. So are we.

Real cannabis knowledge in 60-second bites, myth vs fact with grades, and the culture behind the counter. Zero stoner cliches.
