🌱 Green roofs may do more than manage stormwater.

A 5-year field study found that biochar-amended green roofs consistently absorbed more methane, with peak CH₄ uptake nearly 5× higher than controls, without increasing CO₂ emissions.

Water erosion does more than remove soil carbon. It also reshapes microbial communities and accelerates carbon decomposition.

In eroded upper slopes, SOC decomposition was 41%–48% higher, mainly within the top 40 cm of soil.
