Dr. Euphemia Haynes was the first Black woman to earn a PhD in mathematics (1943).

For 47 years, she taught in the public schools of Washington, DC. In 1966, became the first woman to chair the DC Board of #Education. She was born #OTD in 1890.

Thousands of immigrants did the hard, dirty work of clearing rubble and toxic dust and debris from Ground Zero. Many were undocumented laborers sent to work every day with no special PPE, and got cancer as a result. Now some of those same people are living in fear of ICE.

In December 1942, she was deported from Westerbork to #Auschwitz & murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.

Atlantic Industrial Coatings, the contractor that renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, admits errors in its own work and flaws in the repair plan, NOT VANDALISM, caused the pool’s blue liner to peel and break loose.

Atlantic is being paid $14.7 million.

In the 25 years since 9/11, the United States has spent $8 trillion+ on wars that have taken millions of lives in the name of fighting "terror."

Can you imagine if we had instead invested those funds here on climate, health care, housing, and education?
