Exactly. In Canada we think of Mamdani as a normal slightly left-of-centre guy who could easily lead two of our mainstream federal parties.
I live nowhere near NYC but I’m always astounded that Mamdani’s critics are trying to paint him as some kind of radical leftist. Everything he says just seems to be smart and logical? Like what “centrist” actually should be? Not “centrist” as it stands now (craven kowtowing to authoritarians).

A couple of inside-baseball things to say about this story. First: Investigations are extremely not my lane! I started as a creative writer first and only learned to report as I went along in magazines, and while I think I've learned a lot, I've always been really intimidated by investigative work.
